Somis Unified School District selected Origami Math Genius (OMG) as its professional development curriculum. Teachers will learn to engage students with hands-on origami projects and teach math visually through origami. Numerous studies showed teaching math through origami is more effective than traditional teaching. OMG has been taught to students and teachers in numerous school districts to improve math education. It follows the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.

A paper sculpture of long-eared owl is created for Channel Islands National Park. It highlights the wildlife on the islands and engages the public in preservation.
Channel Islands National Park commissioned local artist BiJian Fan to create artistic interpretation of islands wildlife. 14 outdoor sculptures of island animals were installed in the garden at Park’s visitor center. The art would engage public in preserving wildlife habitat.
Channel Islands National Park encompasses five islands off California coast, isolation over thousands of years has animals evolved into unique species found nowhere else on Earth. Edison InternationalⓇ awarded Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) another educational grant for its Origami Math Genius (OMG) program. It enables SCIART to bring creative education to local students and teachers.
