A media coverage of Origami Math Genius (OMG) in local newspaper stimulates public interest in interdisciplinary education, Origami brings Thousand Oaks kids into the fold.

US math education ranks at the 27th internationally, 49% of California students are not proficient in math.  Scientific studies revealed a significant advantage of teaching math through origami art over traditional teaching.

OMG is a curriculum of origami math developed for integrating art and science in K-12 education. It brings fun and hands-on origami activities into active learning.  OMG has drawn growing community support.  It has received two grants and been taught at local schools, libraries, Gull Wings Children’s Museum, Boys & Girls Club, Studio Channel Islands Art Center, and home school in Ventura county.

Earning his stripes
A bird sculpture is created using stainless steel stripes.  2D static stripes are transformed into a 3D kinetic sculpture, the spatial and temporal transformation symbolizes an evolution in space and time.  The bird responds to the surrounding environment and bobs intermittently, the constant shift between motion and equilibrium is conceptualized out of Buddhism’s doctrine - impermanence.
