The city of Los Angeles published a cultural guide in May 2019 to celebrate Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month. It features artwork from Asian and Pacific Islander artists who have cemented L.A.’s role as a creative capital. This floating sculpture is selected for the publication. It reflects California’s golden coast through water, sunshine, and sea bird.
A KCET travel journal, “Explore Ventura, Gateway to the Channel Islands” by Sandi Hemmerlein, highlighted the whimsical creations of local sculptor BiJian Fan, which evoke the wildlife found on the islands.

A sculpture of bald eagle by BiJian Fan landed at Channel Islands National Park. Bald eagles were eliminated from the islands by the 1960s due to DDT contamination and human persecution. Through habitat restoration and reintroduction, bald eagles resumed breeding on the islands.
